Massage is one of the oldest therapeutic methods since "the rubbing on the body" was performed from many centuries ago. As a method of treatment the massage was even applied in the third millennium before our era in China, then in Japan, Rome, Greece, and India. The medical knowledge about the massage was transferred by people from generation to generation, from the ancient civilizations to our days. The therapeutic massage is the scientifically substantiated procedure of mechanical action by hand on the exposed body. It removes pain of different injuries. It relaxes the  muscles and, on the contrary, restores the functions lost by separate muscles. Massage successfully helps in the back ache, ostiohondrosis and many other diseases. Massage in contemporary medicine is the necessary therapeutic method. It is necessary not only for sick, but also to each healthy person as the method to support organism in a good state. Shiatsu (指圧 Japanese from shi, meaning finger, and atsu, meaning pressure) is a traditional Japanese hands-on therapy based on anatomical and physiological theory and is regulated as a licensed medical therapy with the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Japan.

Although the hot stone massage is a relatively new technique it is one that has gained a lot of favor from those who practice its healing powers.
